Synergie opens new women’s shelter in DRC
Thanks to generous donations from Donor Direct Action supporters, our partner Synergie des Femmes pour les Victimes des Violences has opened this new women’s shelter in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Women fleeing situations of domestic violence, rape and other sexual assault now have a safe house, called Maison Alanine. There they can heal, recover from their trauma and learn skills.
The need is still great: for years the DRC has been at war and women have been the casualties, suffering widespread rape and pervasive sexual assault. Even in the cities and those areas where fighting is not now happening, sexual violence is common.
Maison Alanine enables Synergie des Femmes pour les Victimes des Violences to help women survivors. Here they can provide psycho-social, medical, and legal defense services to those who need it.
Please help these women heal and make better lives for themselves.
